.drUg addictiOn..

Drug addiction is a state of psychological addiction of a being into taking drugs exceeding their required dosage. This mental problem can affect a person’s mind and health. Several Filipinos had been identified as drug addicts. Most of which belong to the lower class of the Philippines’ society that experience poverty and famine. Even children at very young age are caught taking drugs without a doctor’s prescription, each child being influenced by adults or teenagers that are also potential addicts themselves. In urban areas all over our country, every town has a potential drug lord or a drug addict. But less than a half of them are caught by the nation’s security. Could these drug lords have power over our policemen? Could they manipulate the policemen’s mind? One great power that a drug lord has is money, money they earn through trading certain amounts of illegal drugs in exchange for huge quantities of money. Only those drug traders that are financially poor that are mostly caught in their illegal acts.

Our country belongs to top five lists of the Asian countries that are engaged to illegal drug dosage, particularly in the dosage of met amphetamine or we know as “shabu”. Famous drug lords here inhibit our country on earth. Some of which are now cheating millionaires, buying every police department to be saved from being caught during its operation.

Drug addiction could cause to a nation’s downfall. Our leaders or even us should discourage those that could be potential drug addicts. A simple act could save many lives and the future of our country.

Men and women are both created by God, each having a definite role to portray in this world, a role where each individual is required to give his one hundred percent effort. As what they say, men and women are exact opposite of each other: physically, mentally and emotionally.

Our society considers some weaknesses of men and women, weaknesses that somehow show the difference between a male and a female. Women tend to be emotional beings. They tend to be controlled by their emotions. Never make a woman decide on something when she is feeling confused of her emotions. This could cause an upset of the situation, an upset that could ruin everything. What I also don’t understand in women is their nature of dealing things. They are those that easily get inspired over a simple happening on that day. Women are sometimes also unpredictable. You will never know what she is hiding from the world. You can’t determine the flow of her emotions. You will never know what she would probably do at that very moment. Men, on the other hand, are such expressive beings and sometimes are violent in nature. Men are those who tend to face their problem alone. They sometimes don’t accept criticism of others. Men want to deal with things that could be solved in an instant. They are those that are not impatient enough to wait another second to solve a chaotic situation. What I saw mostly in men is that they are mostly involved in social misbehaviors: smoking in public, gambling in casinos, drug addiction, etc. Most men are hooked with vices even at a very young age. Nowadays, you could even see a five-year old child smoking a cigarette in the streets. They are those beings that are easily overruled by temptations.

These problems on men and women show that we all are human beings and that we all commit mistakes and have weaknesses. Being weak, in all aspect, doesn’t mean that you don’t deserve to be here on earth. Every human being has a weakness inside of him or her, a weakness that show why we are human beings.

Childhood is a stage of curiosity of a human being, a stage where you seem ignorant to every thing in the world. But this ignorance of the child raises questions that even the wise men on earth end up not sure of their answers. An uneducated child amazingly can make a wise man mute and startled for a moment by its question.

I myself also raised some questions that are now still left unanswered, quesions that i myself am trying to answer in any possible but right way. I would share to you my questions i raised since childhood hoping that you could help me find an answer to this questions.

Could there really be a God here on earth now? Could the garden of eve still exist on earth? If not now, did the garden exist before in our seven continents? What was the real identity of the thing tht made adam and eve eat the forbidden fruit? Was it really a serpent or just an allegory? Was the cross an evil instrument since it was were Jesus Christ died? If the sun is a star and the sun is revolved by planets, could there be planets revolving around the stars we see at night? Could there be other life forms than us here on earth? Could we really be born sinners? They say that memory gap happens as soon as we reach adulthood but why can't we remember now what happened to us when we were just a one-year old child? Doesn't this mean that memory gap can appear even at a young age? Why do we have to die? Could there reall be reincarnation? Could something be living now here on earth whose identity is still a mystery? Would time come that we human beings be extinct? Would human beings be the last living life forms left before the end of the world? Why of all living beings are we left responsible on every thing here on earth? Is this a puunishment we receive because of what our ancestors, adam and eve, had done? Could the be really true love? Is love blind? How do we knoow that it is love that we feel?

Questions are raised perhaps to know why and how exist one earth, to know how it all started and how it would end.

.KYSD

KYSD stands for Know Your School Day. It is an event in the UP society where students are given the chance to be teachers and learn how to appreciate what their teachers underwent for every lesson they had everyday. Being a teacher is not that easy. This was the main reason why I decided not to apply as a subject teacher and just be a student. Applicants underwent screenings for the positions that they want to attain during the KYSD event and most of them were given the chance. After reaching their temporary positions, the student applicants were given the responsibility as a faculty member, the responsibility to bring knowledge to the students and bring discipline to them. These were the challenging tasks the student applicants underwent during their days as a subject teacher of a faculty staff.
At the end of the event, students were to present a presentation showing their gratitude towards their teachers. This was the most awaited part of the KYSD event. The presentation determined how happy the presenters were to have teachers like them. A senior student made a song composition about their high school days in UP high and how their teachers help them. The composition served as the presentation of the seniors as a whole.
The KYSD event is an eye-opener to those students who at first don’t appreciate the value of their teachers and how they helped to reach for their dreams. During this event, the students realize how important a real teacher could be and how hard it is to be one. Being a teacher is a profession where there should be pure dedication, a dedication to help every student to be morally educated and to succeed in life.

To love is to see an imperfect person perfectly; to see not a single flaw. These are perhaps lines from the past that are influenced by the works of late writers who try to give love a meaning similar to how love is defined in the bible. These philosophies of love would somehow end in a tragic way. As what we are, we have become romantic investors. We never lend a single without asking something in return. Love, nowadays, is like running a business of you own. You need to sacrifice things of your in order to satisfy yourself at the end. We have been like practical businessmen, minimize outcome and maximize income. It is hard to see nowadays an image of the late martyrs of the past, to see those who love unselfishly and never expect something in return. It is now hard to find the similarities of what love is expected to be and from what love is practically.
But what really is love? Is it barely human blindness to not see the crookedness of his or her companion or just plainly suicidal sacrifices for his or her companion? Is love like a charity act or a banking institute? As human beings, we tend to believe different philosophies. Some are transcendent of the late martyrs and some are those who seem to realize the awful truth of being a martyr. Some are living romantic investors and some live a life that would end in tragedy. Love as what they say has so many meanings, meanings that came from different influences of hearts who either lived in tragedy or lived in luxury. Experiences of the past are the roots of why love is defined nowadays. Perhaps experience is the best teacher.
